Constitution of the League 2026-2027 Season
At last year’s AGM there was a lot of discussion about the constitution and how the lower men’s divisions were disadvantaged by how the teams were distributed across the League. The committee have listened to the concerns raised and have been looking at ways to address this. In order to do this some major reorganisation needs to happen. This will have to happen either this year or next year depending on which of the two options proposed are voted upon on Thursday.

Option 1 keeps the league in the same format as the 2025-2026 season with the top 3 divisions keeping 14 teams and the lower divisions having 12 teams and starting the season later. It does mean less disruption to teams, however there are still some teams that were expecting to remain in their division that will move down. If this option is chosen then there will still need to be a major change in the 2027-2028 season; we anticipate this to be similar to Option 2.

Option 2 is the one that causes the most disruption this year but will set the League up in a way that will be sustainable going forward for the next few years, meaning that next year 3 up and 3 down should once again be possible. It does mean that there are a few teams being relegated when they were expecting to remain in their division but also means that fewer teams are promoted than expected. The top 6 divisions will have 13 teams and 1 bye.

As you are aware every team is welcome to send a representative to the AGM on Thursday and each team has one vote. Please send a representative so that your team has a say in the decision. Can we also appeal to teams to not just focus on their own team position but on the bigger picture and the future of the League.
Message from the Treasurer re:
Payments to Cheltenham Skittles League
I am asking all teams, wherever possible, to make any payments to Cheltenham Skittles League by Bank Transfer with effect from September 2025. I am messaging now to give teams time to either set up a team bank account or nominate a team member to swap a bank transfor for the cash (this option works well for a lot of teams).
Many of you already do make a bank transfer for some things, but moving forward it would be really helpful for all payments to be made directly into our bank. Our Bank Details are:

Account Name: Cheltenham Skittles League
Account No: 01258421
Sort Code: 30-95-72

Thank you
